Offer your marketing services to local businesses! According to a recent Nielsen survey, 30% of business owners do no online advertising, and 56% of them don't even have a web site. Yet, when asked where they go fist to look for products and services, 41% on these same business owners said that they go to search engines first. If this isn't an opportunity to solve a problem for them, I don't know what is!! Here's how to do it: 1) Ask them if they're happy with their online marketing efforts (only 9% are). 2) Ask them where they go when they need a product or service for their business. 54% use some form of online search, directory, or review site. 3) Show them the consumer numbers; i.e. 92% have searched for something online then bought it at a local retailer. 3.5) Heck, I'd even give them a report that shows them some of the data from the Nielsen report (make sure to properly site the source of the data; see page 13 of the report). 4) Show them what you can do for their business (i.e. get them ranked on Google for terms like "Birmingham cabinet refinishing"). Make sure you price your services for what they're worth to these businesses. They spend hundreds per year on ads in the Yellow Pages that only get used by 24% of consumers. Have fun and make lots of money with this!
