    WHAT??? Am I understanding you correctly? Are you saying I am stupid for obtaining backlinks in the way I described and that it is a waste of time? I assume this because you quoted my post.

    How does it lose money? Nothing I said requires money. And it works for sure. I have two brand new PR3 sites WITH STEADY TRAFFIC that prove that buddy. Contacting webmasters with sites that rank well for your keywords and asking for a link or an exchange has always been a standard and well known method of site promotion.

    For one special niche site I may have sent 40 or 50 emails and/or contact forms requesting links and got about 30 backlinks from highly relevant websites. Only a few asked for a link in return, most of them did not. Also, nearly everyone had page rank some as high as 5. So am I a newbie wasting my time here?

    From my viewpoint my time was well spent. I got two brand new sites up to PR3 and one is getting about 200 uniques per day and only about 3 months old. What did this cost me? Just a little bit of my time - I did not purchase any links.

    Big lesson from this post, don't ask for rep. Think he/she learned that lesson. As for the advise, I would not do that unless you don't care about your rep. Most top sites will know what your doing and will spread the word. Better to build links the honest way. Spam is spam even if you try to cover it up with a good comment. JMO

    Now Nintendo, I am pissed at you! I followed your advice and I got banned from Google, what did I do wrong? ;) :D
