Yiepie $2000/month for the first time!

For all those people out there wondering if it is possible to make money with Adsense yes it is!

I started a site in Jan 06 and currently have over 6000 unique visitors a day with around 30000 pageviews. In April my CPC doubled for some reason and I hit $2000 for the first time.

What did I do
- create/group content that is unique to create a user community
- make it as easy as possible for users to add content (leave comments etc.)
- submit stories to Digg
- submit my site to top 100 lists
- basic SEO on every page
- experiment extensively with add placements
- only focus on one site
- focus on my visitors not on Adsense

What did I not do?
- directory submissions
- extensive SEO
- read hours on a forum how to get rich fast ;-)
- try to create 100 sites

I'm sure some of you will say my approach is not the best, and I'm not claiming it is. Just wanted to share that you can get results with just focussing on your visitors....

Please don't ask me for the url, I'm suffering from Google paranoia...

 

Congrats if i had 6000 viz/days i make olmost the same still trugling at 600/day ....

 

Congrats I guess, my guess is that your site is about soccer or football.

Your story is VERY much like mine.. Also started in Jan 06, did basically the same things you did, and did not do.. Seems like a good formula for success.

 

Yeah that what I would liek to do as well. Focus on visitor not adsense. just the point is now my site not fully function yet so i cant do much marketing. hopefully I can achieve the same level like you one day. ^^

Yes, what are those top 100 lists, can you show us that URL..?

 

just type in Google - top 100 'your topic' sites and you will most likely find a lot of sites.

an example for football is : http://www.englishfootball.info/

 

Thats very well done. I think the site is soccer and its a good site because I had seen it before. I no longer remember it. Anyway, Its very good that you can earns such amounts from soccer site, soupposedly very low cpc.

A lot of new sites try to copy existing concepts with the aim of getting rich quickly. However most successful sites are born out of a frustration from the founder that something they want is not available online (for example Digg). So was mine.

When you create something that you think is missing, you have a much better chance that other surfers to be looking for that as well and quickly build a loyal userbase.

When you want to copy an idea that has been tried over and over again(how to get rich, online games,...), you need to have a lot of time, money and skill to beat the existing successfull websites.

But I guess the get rich fast message is too tempting to resist...
