Interesting search engine.. they could be unique though.. i'd like to see a one page ajax search engine.. where everything loaded dynamically and had pretty little image movements while things loaded.. that'd make me happy.

Nice idea... Unfortunately it would take $25 million to implement. :D I think, though, in the long run, the crawling, the sorting, and the presentation will all become separate industries. So you would have companies that specialize in crawling, and others that specialize in the interface, such as the one-page ajax.

By the way, here's something similar: http://www.kosmix.com/

Yanga = WebAlta.com = Russian spam bot search network. They are harvesting your pages for their content and media. I suggest you block them.

Apparantly, the crawlers come from Gigabase Network LTD. At least the IP check says they do. They are trying to masquerade as a UK business, but Gigabase (nor Yanga) is registered with Companies House in the UK.

Reports state that they also ignore your robots.txt file, suck bandwidth by downloading media files, and they are not very smart in covering it up.

Another report suggests they are using a Yahoo API for their search results, not Google. So basically it is Yahoo Search with a Google coat of paint.

most of the search engines that people are bringing up nowadays are straight up google clones, i was using helpuu recently because they donate money to charities, but they are a straight google clone, and ive stoped recently because i was told they arent actually donating money and are getting sued because of it. haha. im sticking with google.

It's horrible :S I searched for my site (SERP 2) and clicked it to ensure the link was ok, and it decided to open it in a new window

Another easy link. The results are DoFollow :)
NorCalCars Search (checking to see if google will list it in their webmaster section) :)

I see... By disguising themselves as a search engine, they gain a free pass to crawl anywhere they like. Very clever! But not clever enough for the artful Dodger, I guess.

No they don't. Because it is just a front for their main game, which is scraping and stealing content and media files. For what purpose they use the content/media is unclear.

And the SE is Yahoo, not Yanga. They are using the Yahoo Search API for their results (and obviously not accrediting Yahoo for the results ... terms violation???)

I didn't know of Yanga until I did some research on them. Most of what I posted is stated elsewhere on the web. I thought it necessary to point out what Yanga really is, before people start promoting them in a kinder, gentler light.

Although I haven't heard about it before but am impressed with results. They are very identical to Google. I am wondering from where they are fetching all results.

You misquoted me. I said "Yanga = WebAlta.com = Russian spam bot search network."

Yanga is tied to WebAlta, which is/was a Russian spam bot network. Yanga is Russian based.

Here is some information at WMW.

totally agree, have you tried scour.com? You can vote and comment on the results changing the ranking over time. and you get paid for it. its hard to beat google, but they use all 3 of the big engines.
