First a little background... I am a developer/designer by profession, so hopefully the skills I possess in these areas are beneficial to me in my affiliate marketing quest. I have worked in the marketing department of a major automotive electronics company for the past 3 years, I have also worked in sales in the past and understand the psychology of closing a sale. All in all I would expect I have the "potential" to be highly successful in affiliate marketing when my skill sets are combined. I started on January 1st and while I did not expect it to be easy, I did not expect to not generate a single sale by now either but I love a challenge and this has actually driven me further to figure this whole thing out. I have been taking notes the entire time and will be posting a journal. After following some journals here, I see a majority of those type of threads turn into a whole lot of junk posts. I do not want this to happen and want to be able to have what I learn benefit others IF i can get it to benefit me haha, at this point I have not been successful yet lol. First question: I own several domains which I believe would be good to potentially post this blog/journal on, which do you think I should use? profithuge.com attractprofit.com or webaffiliatesite.com I am leaning towards webaffiliatesite.com Second... what is the deal with adwords? This is the most frustrating/challenging thing I have faced in my life. I have created a full blog, with several relevant articles, and a full landing/sales page for first offer I chose. I purposely chose a VERY popular offer, which is over saturated as it will allow me to judge my skills better, compared to a niche with no competition. My landing page/sales letter consists of about 700-1000 words, with the title, and h1 tags using the relevant offer keyword with secondary keywords placed in the article text. It is semantically correct html, but my landing page is rated poor and my QS 1... no matter what I do. It this because it is a brand new domain/website which has not been indexed yet? Third, I believe with my combination of skills, domain portfolio and ability to learn I am positioned to potentially do very well, I am not afraid of PPC as many suggest not starting with it. If anyone is putting together their own "Information Product" or already has one and would like to coach me, I feel I am a great learner and listener and represent a great chance for you to prove your product and methods through my success or failure. PM me if you are interested
Domains do matter if you're going to start a linking campaign. But overall the domain name is the least important thing when it comes to bum marketing/ marketing clickbank. Just choose a relevant one to what you're promoting.. If say you're promoting a weight loss product then register a cheap .info domain i.e weighloss4dummies.info .. Adwords takes lots of testing till you come up with a profitable campaign, I know it took me months to build a profitable campaign and most people can't afford to lose money. Hang on the forums, there's plenty to learn. Welcome aboard Al.
Thanks for the response precious! I am not really concerned with domains for the affiliate offers/landing pages, was more interested in getting feedback on which one of those 3 domains I own would be best for posting a journal/blog of my experiences for others to follow
Oh sorry, didn't get it right Definitely the one that you are leaning towards is the most suitable one. Al.
my suggestion: don't worry about a journal - they always end in disaster just focus on making money for yourself and don't waste your time on a journal/blog
Well, with all of your "skills" and confidence, I would start by learning the basics. Do not start with the marketing/sales area. You can always do that later after you learn something about Internet marketing. Start with something that is much less competitive. Don't be afraid of PPC. You will hear people repeat the same crap about how much you can lose. Sure you can lose money if you don't know how to do it. You can also prepare yourself to make a ton of money. For example, a PPC campaign is not just used to make money off the bat. You can use it to get keywords you never dreamed of. This is where you make the bucks. Don't get me wrong. I don't recommend going into PPC blindly. But then again, it doesn't take that long to learn the basics before you try it.
@dlm, thanks for the note... maybe my time is best spent on researching and learning as opposed to keeping a journal. I will keep that in mind. @zeekstern - what do you mean by do not start with the marketing/sales area? And what would you suggest for something that is much less competitive? Thanks
I am talking about the making money online area and its related products. The CPC for those are very very high unless you can find some really great keywords that aren't that competitive. Anything other than that area is ok. You could try selling a physical product, or an info product. Valentines day is coming up and it should be easy to make a few sales in that area. The sky is the limit.
