I am trying to market the yellowpages website (online version of the printed business listings) of my country. We developed a search box that webmasters can attach to their sites which will allow their website visitors to search the online business page listings by name or keywords. The purpose is to drive traffic to our own website. I am having a little trouble thinking about who to market the search box to, all I can think of is general portal type websites and maybe industry specific portals or communities that I can further customize the search box for. I was wondering also how to spice up the deal fairly to entice the website operators to attach the search box or how to create revenue so I can give the website owner a share. Any inputs would be great! Chad
Well, find any local directories you can to link to you. Websites in the region that are about the region may also be willing to put up a free link to your site - as you do provide genuine information (sounds like). I would start with that kind of stuff: the stuff that doesn't cost you anything. Beyond that: you will have to do your own research: what are popular websites in your country? Newspapers and such - see what it would cost you to get a link from them.
Thanks for the advice. Pretty much am searching for local directories, popular local sites and news sites to get links from. More or less my problem is really how to give some good incentive for people to attach the search box to their sites.
