Hi everyone! I just wanted your thoughts on the legal case between the company Yell and yellowikis? Who do you think will win and who would you want to win? Yellowikis - http://www.yellowikis.org Yell - http://www.yell.com News article link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1835233,00.html P.S. In the article they call him "Paul Youlden". His actual name is "Paul Youlten". P.P.S. If you look up "yell yelloikis" (excl. the "s) you will find more articles on the matter.
I don't know enough about the laws in England to care. In the USA, the main issue would be the use of a trademarked name. The Yell company would probably win on those grounds, because the name is similar and so is the business. I'm not sure why the kid didn't just come up with a different type of name like "Boo Boo listings" or something. The article says the site is trying to pass itself off as a phone directory. I guess that's some sort of England law. I won't be surprised when Yell wins their case.
