I didn't know those packets of quaker hot cereal could go bad. I found one behind some food in the cupboard and examined the package carefully. It was exactly as it would be out of the box, no water damage or mouse bites or alien eggs. So I looked it over for a date - there are none. Shrugging, as it's technically an unperishable food, I opened it up and gave it the scent test. It smelled.. Well, slightly off. Not bad, just stale. So putting it into a cup of hot water, it all looked normal. Except for the white brick of what would have been the 'cream' portion of the peaches and cream flavoring. Ohwell, so much for that.
