Yahoo loves me, they really, really love me. After a few months of sliding on Yahoo while climbing on Google and MSN Yahoo decided to suddenly put the site I have worked to hardest and longest on back in the top 5 for just about every phrase that matters.
I'm seeing big drops today in most of my sites in Yahoo. It is an official yahoo update. They have announced a weather report: http://www.ysearchblog.com/
I'm inclined to agree with the folks on WMW; this is a pretty shoddy update, given what they've decided to promote, and what they dropped.
I just went looking for this thread because my site has jumped up considerably on Yahoo. Finally the respect that I deserve I track about 300 key phrases, about 85% of them are up, and I don't mean from position 40 to 30, I mean from 40 to 3. Of course when some go up others must go down, so I am surprised at the number of "ups" on this thread. I have an engineering site with solid content and found that for the past couple of years Yahoo has been displaying mostly spam sites when my favorite keywords are searched. So I hope this means that they have cleaned up their index, this would mean good things for many of us legitimate players. best regards wiz
They dumped a couple of my sites, but they had coop wieght pointing to them that I pulled and lost so now I can see exactly how many more links I need to get back to the first page for these terms. Only 'bout 700 more or so No problem ...their traffic never converted for me though. I did much better with the trickle of msn and google than the flood of yahoo
I have noticed a slight upgrade in the Yahoo! serps.. but a major increase in the traffic coming from Yahoo!
My MSN traffic seems to convert better than Y! organic traffic and G A-d-Wu__rds. I have no idea why. Y! isn't that bad with conversions, but the A-d-Wu__rds traffic has been consistently converting poorly for a long time; I actually stopped all campaigns a few months ago. I was going to give up on A-d-Wu__rds altogether, but I restarted a few select campaigns just for visibility purposes. I no longer have faith in A-d-Wu__rds ability to convert well. I believe that competitors clicks my ads, and G doesn't do much to stem this kind of click fraud, IMO. I don't have solid proof so I can't say for sure. Nevertheless, I have to admit that I'm very enthusiastic about this new Y! update. Every site I own that deserved to rise in the Y! SERP's did so, and now, for the most part, only sites that actually deserve to rank above mine are outranking me. First class content should always be rewarded with strong rankings. Period. As always, IMO.
Keyword rankings are not really what counts, what counts is traffic. My traffic results are in. On July 17th Y! started to send me more traffic, and it has averaged 25% more than May and June since then. Still the total Yahoo is only about 10% of what Google sends me. best regards wiz
