Yahoo working with Google against Microsoft?

It's interesting to see the two competing giants working together in some fields, I noticed an Ask Yahoo! section which you can add to your customized Google homepage in the Fun section ( http://www.google.com/ig ).

There doesn't seem to be much cooperation between Google and Microsoft however, for a while, an MSN search for Google retrieved a sponsored GEvil (they sell Google is Evil t-shirts) link at the top of the results page, something Google does not allow (Adwords restricts the use of trademarked names in their text ads).

Yahoo! also runs ads on Adwords, such as those for its small business hosting services.

Is this a sign of new cooperation between the 2 giants to kill the rising threat of MSN? I don't know but it will certainly be interesting to watch the events unfold over the coming months.

Very interesting indeed. I'd wouldn't mind it actually.

I'm just wondering, did yahoo use google as its search engine at one point, or did someone fool me way long time ago.

But I think msn uses Overture for its advertisements (I realised it today only). Then how all this going to work. The relations getting too complex for me to understand though.

Yahoo provided some of search technology to google in very early days, also yahoo was one of early investors in google

They currently do use Overture, but I think they plan to launch their own service by the end of this year.
