Yahoo will never get ahead of Google because it doesn't claim better search quality

Companies like Ask.com and Yahoo.com are basically trying to come up with search engines with more features but they're forgetting the big reason why Google got ahead of them in the first place. What they should concentrate is improving their search results and perhaps criticizing flaws in Google's search technology. Not coming up with bigger portals and fancier results pages.

why not? lots of people use portals for stuff other then searching...and pages that look nice are always a plus.

i still go to yahoo for stock quotes because of that big portal that they built...

Well, they can still keep their website as a portal. But "search" is what they should mainly be focusing on.

Bro, nothing in this world remains at the first place for ever, no matter if it is Google, Microsoft or any other company or any other thing, things "keeps on changing" and this is a rule of nature.

I think it's just a matter of time when Google will be #2 or even #3 Yahoo and MS have much more potential.

Yes, but Google has a strong hold on the search engine market. And Yahoo was out before Google was.

I do not think a search engine with more features that google will be able to beat google,
people are drawn to google because google provides the most relevant results. I think it's
all about the brand that google has created for themself.

They should try to match up with Google but they are not doing so

Suppose if search for my name in Google and Yahoo, Google would give more relevant results than yahoo and also Google would display more results whereas yahoo would dispplay only 40r 5 results...

Well this is it - if they want to challenge Google for searches then they have to offer something like, 'Faster Search', or 'More Accurate Search'. Just being a different search engine isn't enough to covert people over...

You cannot state that. Cause the market is always flexible. I think yahoo has to grow its market on the middle east on Europe and on Asia they are way behind there..

Google will stay on top unless their management decides to change protocol. Yahoo is way too behind.
