I was really suprised that Bing did not incorporate a blog search. I was also dissapointed with the advanced search. In fact the only thing I really liked with bing was my serps position I would still never even consider using it over google for search. Bing VS Yahoo I would still pick yahoo just because I have an email with them. I really think Bing could have done a much better job to compete with Google.

Believe me , in he near future , we will be speaking about Google VS Bing .. Yahoo is dying ..
Bing has more focused features, not only a bot searching the web .. I think it will be a kind of merge between Google and Wolframalpha .. wait for this.

AS for now, Bing for example is the best Images SE .. better than Google IMHO.

In my opinion.. Yahoo will still take the position for now.. Bing is
on it's way to success, who knows that this revived SE will take
a good place over Yahoo and Google.. But I also think that the
possibility will take a long period of time..:D Google is on top..

Some internet Guru (can't remember who) said that Google's PageRank is the worst thing that's happened to Search, forcing people to fish for spurious links and not concentrate on content.

I like this point but for now it does seem the best way to Search.

My ideal scenario would be to split search into information / e-commerce

Maybe this won't every happen though

google is good but we cant point yahoo and bing to be bad. They all are into the same competition and competition gets something good for the public :D

I am undecided, I have been using bing since it opened but will let you know if I can get any organic traffic from it HAHA. IF I get more traffic then I do from yahoo I will be happy.

You're point is clearly proven wrong by the market share Google has in search.

If this were the case, Google would certainly not be such a success story. The point people use Google over other search engines (other than speed), is for relevancy.

I think Bing will fail. Their results are very similar to google and I can't see why people would change their habits

The reason Google is susceptible to being overtaken by any search engine is that they shoot themselves in the foot with their own algorithm.

    What do I mean?

Google is so hell bent on penalizing sites for doing the slightest thing "wrong" that they deprive their own SERPS of relevant results.

To me, this is Google's greatest flaw and it's a flaw that any search engine can easily exploit. For nearly every search term, I guarantee there is at least 1 site that should be page #1 but is somewhere around 950 because they did something minor and ridiculous in Google's eyes.

If Bing looks more into providing relevant results than penalizing everyone like Google, they will have something going there...

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, of coarse.

Google came out in 1998. Most internet users were using dial-up at the time. Google had a search bar, button and a logo on a white background. It's simple layout and design won over webmasters and the pre-cable/pre-DSL internet users alike. The name Google was easy to remember and rolls off the tongue very well. At the time, lol, Ask Jeeves and Yahoo were really the only other search engines if I remember right.

Since then Google has done little to improve their search results, and have focused on creating gadgets, gmail, tools, ect. Some good, some horrible. The problem is Google has since then pissed off so many webmasters, jerking them around to the point that they are fed up with all of their BS.

I created the very first keyword bidding search engine in the world in 1994, that incorporated many features that Google even lacks today. When I realized that my grand idea needed much funding, I put the whole project on hold, because of the lack of $500,000 to really get the whole project off the ground in a serious way. I have the technology that, if I had the proper capital, can max search result relevancy to the point it can never be improved upon in the future. Don't ask how, unless your an investor with half a million dollars to invest.

Anyways my main point is...that Google is a success because of 1. The domain name 2. The fast load times, especially for dial up 3. adwords/adsense

But I am sorry to say their results still suck, at least that is my opinion.

I think Bing will beat yahoo initially, but then Yahoo will retake #2 after google.
