    Hi,
I have started lately to submit sitemaps to Google, and the software I use (Gsitecrawler) can also generate Yahoo urllist.txt
Does it worth the time? I mean, I'm now familiar with all the webmaster program on Google, but does it really get your pages listed on Yahoo, have you experienced any peak in your traffic after the first submission ever?
I'd like to get you opinion about that.
    Thanks

If you have an XML Sitemap, simply point to it with your Robots.txt file. Google, Yahoo, Live/MSN, and Ask.com will pick it up. You don't need a urllist.txt file since Yahoo now supports XML sitemaps.

Don't expect a large boost in traffic when submitting a sitemap for a new site. Your pages will get indexed, but likely nowhere near the top since they are new pages without backlinks.

Check out this complete quick launch index guide. It's a good read, especially for submitting your sitemap to Ask.com (which most people don't do).

Yahoo traffic is just another boost. :)
The more traffic, the better, so go for it :)

    Thanks Snowbird :)
I've found how to do it (I didn't know it was possible though)
    Sitemap: <url>/sitemap.xml
Does it work the same with a .gz file (do all search-engine recognize i?)
    Sitemap: <url>/sitemap.xml.gz

If you have a sitemap.xml file, just point to that in your robots.txt file.

I personally don't use compressed sitemap files. My directory does not even have enough pages to warrant compression. If you have a massive site, that's a different story.

It doesn't take long to make one, so you might as well do it.
