Check out these numbers. Ranking #3 in Google for a search term gives me 240 - 250 hits for the first half of December. The same term I ranked #1 in Yahoo and get 28 hits. Google gives 10 times the traffic. I don't care much for the pot that Yahoo is in.
Since the last Yahoo and Google updates I have been doing better on both. #3 in Yahoo/MSN and #16 in Google for primary keywords. In the top 5 on both for many various secondary keywords and combinations. Dec stats - Yahoo 7384 visitors Google 6024 visitors MSN 2540 visitors
I see ups and downs all the time but only 39 hits for all of December is crazy. Google gives over 600 hits.
Something must be up with you and Y!, because I already have 3000 hits from Yahoo this month. Only 4 1/2 days into the month.
I find some of my sites, which rank #1 for top keywords on Google, not even in the first 5 pages of results on Yahoo... I do no real link swapping, or SEO work (the site is simply too big), and rely instead on the value others see in the website. I feel that Yahoo may in fact be rewarding SEO work, while Google is rewarding value. Look at the search results very carefully, and forget that you might be #1... do you truly provide value to the search request done at either search engine? More often then not with Yahoo, I find them lacking in getting good search results. Might be the reason why less and less people use them. As in all things, though, it's the eyes of the beholder...
Just noticed one of my sites, which normally averages between 450 and 500 hits monthly from Yahoo already has 1,000 hits for January. Google and MSN are on par to hit their averages for me for the month so it doesn't look like I've dropped anything there, just picking up a lot of new traffic from Yahoo. None of my other sites are seeing changes like this though, so it's kind of odd in that respect, but I'll take it none the less.
Is it just me or is Yahoo shuffling their SERPs again? Or are they reverting back to a previous update in preparation for something else? I received an email a couple of weeks back that they were going to be streamling the way ads were displayed. But I don't know if an algo change was going to be accompanying that change. Anyway I have noticed some changes since yesterday. Anyone else?
