I can see the market share shifting in the near future. I think it won't be long till MSN takes over as #2 and Yahoo will be #3.

I don't see how... MSN is stuck in a deep hole and it sure doesn't seem to be climbing out.

Ever since they launched their engine the traffic sucks, and nothing has changed

MSN traffic does not suck. We get really high convertions from MSN traffic. Works for us.

Wow, just noticed a major increase in Yahoo referrals in the last few days. Usually my logs are full of Google referrals, but now for every 2/3 Google, I see one Yahoo search! Nice!

I would agree and people need to understand it also depends on the theme of your site.

People also forget how important position is... a few spots could mean the difference b/t hundreds of visitors.

I also disagree. I think MSN will eventually be a major competitor, however, right now Google>Yahoo>MSN. Yahoo is getting better though. I'm seeing less spam sites, better results in general in Yahoo. I've even used it a few times lately when my Google searches were turning up crap. Most of the time it wasn't any better, but for a few topics I ended up finding what I needed with Yahoo and not G.

I have to disagree with that, I am getting tons of yahoo traffic but its on test sites/pages I have that are paying fine on adsense but from a user point of view I dont think the 50-80 no.1's I now have in yahoo are particularly warranted or valuable, I lost a lot of google traffic in the last few months on my test sites but I had to say-cool, they were testing certain things and deserved to go, yahoo have put them all at no.1  while google had the brains to say no you bugger, thats shite, yahoo results look far more manipulated which will bring applause from a webaster forum and up my income maybe a few $k this month but I am not impressed with their direction.

I use Yahoo now, Google just doesn't seem to bring up relevant results for what I search for.
I have noticed that the results from MSN seem to favor sites that have the term included in their URL. That doesnt bring the best results either.

For the best search engine in terms of bringing the best most relevant serarch results I find Yahoo the best by far.

What I see is that Yahoo now places a bigger importance on off-page factors iso their long love for on-page factors. This would explain why alot of us suddenly rank so well.

    Anybody else notices this?

It wasn't me, so no public flogging. Please do that in private if needed:)

I don't think gross results have any impact on search volume, but they can provide a quick and simple indicator (by no means statistically sound) of the general level of competitiveness of a word/phrase. More results to choose from = more competition. I would consider another page that could potentially place in the serps for the same phrase that I may be after as competition.

My guess is your probably ranking for many more search terms in Yahoo compared to Google.
