I'm seeing big changes too. Mostly for the best. Strangely, though, not a lot of new traffic from some pretty good terms. Has Yahoo lost some market share?
I think they have lost some market share. I don't get the traffic I thought I would from my #1 out of 154 million ranking.
sometimes it takes a day or 2 for the new results to show on alll yahoos, I think at least it has seemed that way before, I have sites suddenly have their yahoo die for like a day or so, but the site still ranks at least were i am, then suddenly its gone where i am so it would seem it was gone some other places first
I am in the same boat with hardly any traffic and I rank first place for SEO and Web Designers and I just don't know why there's not a lot of traffic. I think really though it has to do with the industry your site's in. When I ranked for Myspace Layouts on Yahoo I noticed a surge in traffic.
I hate these updates... all my keywords are showing up at #33, #38 and similar... the exact spot where you get absolutely 0 visitors from it... might as well stay at page 100
I was the same way Fryman until this update for some terms. This update is very good but traffic is crap.
And you complain! I've moved from nowhere to #11 for one of my site's names but still don't rank for anything else. I would kill for that #39 lol Obviously I can see where you wouldn't be happy about it though.
The update still seems to be going on, I see different results if I connect through different proxy servers...
The sites that are getting hurt in Yahoo SERPs right now, are they largely coop and/or link-vault linked sites?
That's not what I'm saying at all. I think it's undeniable that G and Y are getting better at filtering out these kinds of links. What I'm saying is that if they improve their algo to detect programs like this, people who rely on them for rankings will notice a decrease. If Yahoo is filtering out link programs like this , it wouldn't "kill your rankings". It just removes the benefit that existed previously. Therefore some people might see a drop in rankings. It's not a penalty, just an algorithmic change. I think it's pretty likely that SEs are devaluing ANY suspicious links, including ones they think are part of a "linking schemes" or purchased links. I kept all my top 5 rankings in Yahoo this update, overall stronger than ever. The only sight that took a slight dip is the only one I have Link-Vault links pointing to. And I've pretty much given up on L-V, all the sites were crap, and half the links were missing anyways.
