Hi, one of my site seems to ranked a lot more better in Yahoo UK than Yahoo.com. Are they using Geo algo effect like Google?
I think it's more to do with who you've linked to or who linked to you. I've got a page written in jp and it was doing well in yahoo/jp I think because a jp proxy site has linked to it. check who's linking to what on your site. ROOFIS
There is something that would make Yahoo UK and Yahoo.com different from each other but they're just the same in many instances...
Well not totally but there are some diffrences i think its same like google like co,uk will be given more preference and so on
What I have noticed is that in google the results are more different in .com and .co.uk. Then again, it may be based on KW as well.
Well I don't think its about the extension. Yahoo Uk is using uk.yahoo.com while Yahoo International is just Yahoo.com.
Yahoo is a big search engine like Google , if you lives in for example in nepal so they prefer you to search in your country . If you want to find some thing in global so they provide you go to yahoo . com cheers cynthia
Of course, the results from different countries would not be identical. Yahoo returns the results basing on your country or the country you chosen.
Its general. Yahoo UK first prefer UK site & than other site. Its must be different. Because, they always prefer UK site first.
i also experienced these differences at Yahoo many times. basically SE rankings and inbound links also varies, i don't know exact reason but i m doing a little work on it, i will must share with you all.
Yahoo shows a lot more inbound links to your site whereas google tends to hide this info and would only show a fraction of those links!
Exactly.. For one of my site Google showed just few hundred links, but for the same site, Yahoo displayed well over 4k links.. Which one is actually true Further, alexa.com seems to track the yahoo link numbers.. any other views friends??
Some people need to actually read a thread before making assumptions. As said, it depends on your backlinks from that region and it then compares to other sites in that region's backlinks.
I think it depends on how you search! for example if you submit your site to the yahoo directory you have to go to the .com to do that, so results filter down to u.k sites/relevancy hence it will appear higher on the u.k site.
