Yahoo to Cut Jobs

Yahoo is about to go for a big job cut following their slow business. In 2001 they had a major job cut. And now loosing the ground to Google and Microsoft just made things really worse. How many of Yahoo's roughly 14,000 employees will lose their jobs hasn't been determined.

Maybe it'll turn them around....or maybe it's a sign of their doom.

Read about it, their search will be outsourced to Google and MSN. Kinda of sad for Yahoo, they tried so hard to get their search engine going, and at one time I think it is the most responsive and the fastest to index.

I wonder if that means that Adsense will take over or Yahoo will still use YPN. Anyone know?

Yea - starting to wonder what makes Yahoo unique - it's a great portal and alot of people use them for email, but what really sets them apart?

Yahoo is huge... and still #1. The job cut is basically a cleanup, perhaps to be inline with all the new stuff they've been working on.

This isn't the first time Yahoo outsourced their search to Google... A source on that would be good if you have one.

I was searching the other day for something I needed...On google. Do you know what came up! a bunch of crap.
Every site was a few articles about general topic to the subject, and loaded with AdSense. I got so upset, I went to yahoo and search for the same term, and the first three sites had relevant content about my subject and I got my answer on the first try.
When I got into this in "95" I think, I built a site and started promoting it, and did rather well. If you built a site followed the guide lines, you could get rewarded by a pretty good place in the engines. Then google came along and "monetized" and now look, the best source of information doesn't even show on the first page sometimes.
I hope yahoo stays in, or ....My 2 cents

    True.
I first learned about Google, when Yahoo was working with them.

It's not gonna happen. Yahoo will not source to goog for search. It would go against everything they're doing and they would loose a lot.

Yahoo and Google are still neck-to-neck in terms of traffic.

I really hope that they don't outsource their search to another body else. I really like the Yahoo search results.
