Yahoo suddenly ignoring "noydir" tag???

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by Wealdie, Sep 4, 2007.

    Just this last few days Yahoo is ignoring this tag on my site:

    <meta name="robots" content="noydir" />

    And has reverted back to showing my Yahoo Directory title and description.

    This happened just after my annual renewal in the directory (may be a coincidence)

    Anyone else seeing/seen this?

    Bit frustrating as I rank top in Yahoo for most of my KW's!

    Thanks for the feedback - I still have this problem - I might have to try and contact Yahoo about it.

    Wish me luck :D

    for yahoo to know that you do not want them to use the same title and description tag that they are using for their Yahoo directory.

    Just to elaborate on that:

    If you are in the Yahoo Directory they will use the Directory title and description for your site in Yahoo search engine results.

    The tag overides this and tells Yahoo to use the title and description from your site instead.

    The same way as the "noodp" tag tells Google not to use your DMOZ title and description
