Yahoo Store Solution - Any good?

I've been looking at the e-commerce solution that Yahoo offers. I most say that I haven't found much negative about it but before deciding I thought that I might ask here.

As I am no designer I have also been looking at companies that can do the "dirty work" and I found the one called www.ydeveloper.com. Their portfolio looks great but... you never know.

Please let me here any comments that you might have. Thanks.

From what I have read the SEO part is not an issue, so any comments on either the developer and/or the store would be valuable.

Ive been using a legacy yahoo store for a few years now, their new Merchant Solutions is actually better.
Its something like $30/month plus a percentage of sales.

Its not a bad solution for a new ecommerce store. Im moving to Joomla/Virtuemart as I do not want to pay the % of sales, but it has been decent overall.

Tech help is OK, but the help pages have gotten better. It may take some time if you put a ticket in.

Really? Glad I asked. Didn't know that they took a percentage of the sale.

I used it for a non-tech savvy customer and he found it really hard to manage and understand it.

I used it several years ago, and some of are clients use it now.

The short story is, IMO, that it's one of the better developed and integrated solutions out there. If you're technically savvy you might try Zen-Cart or OSCommerce, but if you want to focus most of your time on marketing and not having to worry about ssl, payment integration and debugging, I would go with this. I would also try Mal's E-commerce which has a free and premium version and will integrate with any site, and is fairly easy to use.

    Best of Luck

yes, its 1.5% of the sale, on top of an average 3% of credit charge fees.

If your markup is 100%, the combined fees are approaching 10% of your profit!

Ive messed around with OScommerce for a few months. the stock store looks like garbage, it needs heavy modification to make it look presentable.
