Yahoo SmallBusiness & PayPal Silliness

A while ago I bought a domain on a whim from Yahoo for $2.99 and now want to buy another. After promising me a second $2.99 domain at the final checkout they let me know that it's actually $9.99, ok, but then it fails because it's still hooked up on the discount issues. They just lost a sale.

I tried a different $7.99 domain house but then PayPal stuffed it up by insisting I enter my credit card details and then saying "oh we know about that one, we want another" rather than just letting me pick from the 2 cards it knows about and getting on with it.

I know these aren't big issues but you'd think these two large companies could make my life easier!

Actually, I wouldn't think that for yahoo. Yes, they're a large company but since their main business aren't domain names there will be some problems.. I think they had that $2.99 promotion for a limited time only.

On the other hand, I don't know domain house. I usually use namecheap and godaddy and while there are also some problems with them, they're rare and hard to find. Custommer support also helps...

Actually, that 2.99 promotion is still going on. Simply go to yahoo.com and search for domain name. That is very cheap...

actually, yahoo really does not want that its existing customers use it for their multiple domains - they are more interested in getting more new users signup.

but yes, what you describe - is going a bit too far by them.

Sure it is, but I'd already bought one. So the second domain had to be the regular price, but the script wouldn't let me proceed. So I had to buy it elsewhere - and for less!

PayPal offers to remember your credit card details only for the computer that you activate the option for to ensure security of your credit card number, which is an option that I really appreciate.

I would rather take the time to open my wallet, pull out my card and read the number, cool down and think about my purchase. This also helps snap me out of all those impulse decisions (that those Internet business success e-book sites sometimes manage to drum up), and close my wallet again.

DigitalPoint is a far better resource (not to mention free?) for Internet businesses! Not to mention the extremely helpful members here, and the relatively absence of trolls and white noise!

That was fine but PayPal wouldn't let me add a credit card it already knew about. There was no way forward.
Now that is a good thing.
