Does Yahoo offer something similar to google sitemaps? google sitemap helped me get a lot of pages indexed very quickly. I have problems getting my sites in yahoo... just wondering if they have a sitemap program too?
Yahoo site maps should be named urllist.txt or can be in gz format, urllist.txt.gz. They should reside in the root folder of your web site. There should be one URL Encoded URL per line. I do not know of any file size limits or URL list length count limits. It's pretty easy to hack any sitemap maker to make it create the yahoo version as well.
Please does anyone have a yahoo sitemap maker code I can copy and paste... would much appreciate it... thanks
Here is a site that will make a google site map and a yahoo urllist.txt. Works great and only takes a couple of seconds http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ Jaycan
Carmen... I submitted mine in early March. Yahoo only had 8 pages indexed when I submitted. About 2 weeks later I had 55 indexed. The site is about 8 months old and had only 8 pages indexed for most of that time. So.. yes it does help IMO. Jaycan
Interesting....in those two weeks, did you do any kind of link exchange or was it submit to yahoo, forget about it, check back and see the difference. I just want to make sure it was yahoo submission and no other factors that caused the increase in indexing.
I did a little bit of submitting to directories. Maybe 10-15 most had PR 0-2 so no big deal. I think the the submission did it.
