1) Register your domains for 2-5 years, not 1 year. 2) Avoid buying domains with multiple dashes 3) Do begin to obtain RELEVANT links from high authority pages and directories as soon as possible for both new and old sites 4) Beware who you link out to and do not participate in link exchanges with non-related content sites 5)Standard onpage SEO is enough (title tags with keywords, h1 for heading, static url, proper internal link structure, sitemap, deep content, article content focusing on the search tail and funnel pagerank back up to category pages). 6) Do have a long term SEO and content plan. Long term unique valuable content will always beat out spam in the long run. Others are welcome to add their tips...
Do you want ot rank high in yahoo? This is the easiest. Yahoo cares about ONPAGE SEO nothing else no backlinks nothing age nothing but ONPAGE if you do the onpage seo to the max you will be #1 even if its a new domain
@stevejeff Your guidelines have nothing to do with yahoo YAHOO IS ONLY ABOUT 1 THING ONPAGE OPTIMIZATION
Yahoo loves on-site SEO, keyword stuffing (yes!), internal linking from all over the place (especially links from inside your articles or news that link back to your main pages, and most importantly: KEYWORD IN THE TITLE AND IN THE DOMAIN NAME.
Honestly, I have never got the hang of SEO in Yahoo. I can say that I have sort of a feel for Google that guides me in the right direction but no luck with Yahoo.
Can anybody tell about yahoo seo guidlines? i want to increase my back links and increase the traiffic .please do needfull waiting your reply
Why domains with 2 years or more? Well I have the luck that I got a 8 years old domain and registered a new domain too - for the same topic. Content uses nearly the same keywords and links from outside are also the same. I checked after 2 months these 2 domains and the old one was much higher ranked as the new one (old one: rank 5 :: new one: rank 64) - I guess it has to be something with thrust. This is only about Yahoo - concerning to Google it will take a little bit longer to get a good ranking (but not always). If others have other experiences, I would like to hear - thanks
Does Yahoo have an age filter for newly created websites. I averaged about 30 backlinks per month or so on a new site and it took over 4-5 months before Yahoo picked it up.. I did things like social bookmarking and squidoo and propeller and stuff like that for links that is... And it still took what seemed like forever..
Yahoo seemed to take longer for me also on my sites. I never cared much until one day I started getting a lot of traffic from yahoo for some of my major keywords. This made me pay more attention to them. I did see if you use their Sponsored Search for advertising your site you get picked up by them very quickly. Of course the minimum you can add to your account balance is $30 US.
Yes of course they do as does any search engine. One needs to remember that search engines in their basic form are recommendation engines, as such they must learn about your business and find that it is trustworthy and reliable before they will make recommendations. Think of a restaurant. When they first open critics do not rush to visit it and then make recommendations. Or they do not end up in Fodors when they open. They must be established have great reviews from their customers first. With the search engines the more commercial the aspect the longer it will take for them to send you traffic and that only happens if you have laid the proper framework. Hope this helps.
