Yahoo is seeking to restart merger talks with AOL as a means of defending itself against an unsolicited bid approach from Microsoft, the Times newspaper said on Monday.

HA HA HA ... you must be really desperate to stop Microsoft if you're willing to talk to AOL ...

I think these big companies are starting to get out of hand. They're just getting bigger and bigger and are buying up all of the competition.

That would be a really stupid idea for Yahoo. AOL is going down hill fast. Joining two failing companies is not a way to save either.

    Read this thread about AOL.

well.... The Yahoos can be in charge of a Yahoo-AOL merger whereas with a MS-Yahoo merger, the Yahoos will be kicked out:)

AOL is a part of free masonry and the Illuminati. Look it up if you don't know what I mean.

If they merge in any way or form, I personally will stop using Yahoo full stop. That includes Flickr, Yieldmanager etc.

Two losers merging will not result in a winner, it is sad if they really merged.

Yup, Yup saw the headlines over at Yahoo front page.

Yahoo seeks to restart merger talks with AOL: paper

In the article it just states they are looking into the possibility. It also states they are considering Google. We all pretty much knew that one.) and Disney as well. Hmmmm, Disney making Yahoos dream come true. Wonder how the homepage would look like? Or the Disney - Yahoo email.......

Can I say death to Yahoo if they run with AOL. What can AOL ever possibly do to help Yahoo. AOL barely kind find a foothold in the SE giant arena. I dont see any real possible benefits for Yahoo.

There are some synergies, but it is hard to convert AOL communities to Yahoo groups, I can't see any good potential in any of their business units.

I suspect that Yahoo is playing AOL against Microsoft and Google. With more competition, Microsoft may offer them more.

*At least, I hope that's their intent.

I'm not sure why Yahoo would want to partner with the rusting hulk of an old internet icon. AOL will probably be dead in a few years and Yahoo might be as well if they don't wise up.

At least they should find a potential partner that looks more realistic :)

    Yahoo+AOL = Total garbage!

Aol has become such crap that their search engine is now nothing more than a content relevant adsense for search... If you go to AOL . COM you will see the enhanced by google logo above the search box...

    really sad!
