Read in a post in here (can't find it now) that Yahoo search likes the keyword density to be around 16-17%. Assuming that is true on what kwd tool would that be on? There are several tools that give you kwd and they are all quite different for the SAME keyword/phrase. Would that be 16 or 17% on this tool? http://www.live-keyword-analysis.com/index.html or using some other tool? I've checked the kwd of competitors sites that are on page 1 of Yahoo SERPS and most - but not all - do have their kwd up there around 16% on the above tool. Regarding on page factors: can someone please explain again that if all other things are equal then the site with more backlinks wins out? My site is ranking low right now and yet has over 7,000+ Yahoo backlinks and 161 Google backlinks (that show). Competitor sites that have FAR FEWER - and I do mean FAR FEWER - backlinks in both Yahoo and Google rank on page 1?!? They seem to be doing it with what alot of people would consider keyword spam. I mean this one page has the main keyword plastered all over the page and his site is #2 for this monster keyword phrase. My question is since I am light years ahead of this site in backlinks - do I MATCH his keyword density/spamming tendencies OR do I REDUCE my keyword density to make this come out even in the Yahoo algorithim? Probably didn't explain this the best; but hopefully someone will get my question and have a good answer.
If you post your url, we might be able to take a look for you. Otherwise, it's just pure speculation.
I don't think either of these is the answer. I would first look to see if your 7,000 links contain as many instances of the keyword in the anchor text as your competitors lesser number of links. - Michael
No offense but it would be pure speculation anyhow. Bottom line is the site that is #2 on Yahoo Search is a one page "website", has very few yahoo backlinks and is keyword stuffing his page. And the keywords aren't even in sentences - they are just blatantly LISTED as main keyword #1 in columns. My site on the other hand is listed in at least 50 directories including the Yahoo Directory, has 1,750 pages of real content that I maintain manually - no content management system, have over 7,000 yahoo backlinks, even have a blog now sending links back to my index page, have only used white seo on this site and on and on. It's rank is #215 for the same keyword phrase that this spam site is #2 for. No, I won't list my URL in public forums anymore as too many of my competitors lurk on these forums.....
ALL of my internal links and all of the external links that are reicprocal in nature have the main keywords in them and those ALL have this keyword either exactly as "main keyword 1" or as part of the anchor text as in "free main keyword 1" etc. So adding the 1,750 pages of my site that all say "main keyword 1" and at least another 1,000 of the 7,000 that Yahoo Search says I have I would have at least 2,750 links with "main keyword 1" as the anchor text to that sites like 200 and some on Yahoo.
With all due respect, Sportsguru, how do you expect customers to find you without competitors finding you as well? Roger
What possible harm could it do you for competitors to know your URL? If you are really that worried then isn't a poor SERP placement the best thing for you? That way nobody will know your URL. Perfect! I'm surprised that nobody has asked, but what does Google show for an allinachor: search for your prime keywords? Have you used the McDar tool?
Hi There, My site was listerd very well on Yahoo but its gone, i don't know what is the reason. recently i did some changes and i hope i will be back on, i try to get the keyword moving companies but its very hard, on google i am on page 5 but on yahoo i am only uder PPC, any advise will be appriciated. Thank you
Lisa, I liked your site. Without taking a lot of time to explore every aspect of your site. Here is what I've gathered. The main thing I see is that you probably just need to keep building backlinks - but you need to be careful who is linking to you. I saw one site www.authorizedmovers.com that is linking to your site in a black hat fashion. They are using text and link colors are the same as the backgroud which is a big no no in the Serch Engines. Could cause you problems down the road. As far as your code goes I would change the following: Your h1 tag and content is over half way down the page. IMO you need to to find a way to move both up higher in the code. I would change the other heading you have - An Article about MyMovingQuote.com to MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release and place it in h2 tags Somewhere in your text I would link to other pages (just a couple) with the keywords (like Moving Companies) you are targeting. Hop this helps.
I wonder how yahoo algorithm works, With Google when searching for "infonote" (name of my blog) i am 2nd and not even in top 10 in yahoo
First, thank you so much for your time. In regard to the site that linking to us what can i do about it.
You can try emailing the webmaster. Typically, you are only penalized if you link to a site that is doing things shady. So I would remove his link and email the webmaster that you will replace the link once the issue is resolved. You can reference the following page http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/deletions/deletions-05.html to verify what I stated. See the section marked "What Yahoo! Considers Unwanted" and look down to the 7th bullet point that states "The use of text that is hidden from the user" Hope this helps. Hubert
Hi Hubert, Thank you again, I did change the article heading to MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release, but i don't know hot to add H2 tag, i also don't know ho to remove the page higher as you mention. Thank you Lisa
In your code change this: <p><b><font color="#000080"> MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release</font> <font face="Arial"> </font></b></p> To this <h2>MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release</h2> I see you already have the h2 code in the css file so that won't need to be changed. As far as moving your text up in the page you can read up on using div tags and use css to determine page placement. Good Luck
Hi Hubert, Thank you, again, I appriciate your time. Why H2 makes it better, and how it can help for Ranking.
Hi Again, I did change the tag to <H2> I hope this is the right way, can you please look at the site and let me know, Thank You So Much
You are missing the / to close the last h2 tag: <h2>MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release<h2> Should be: <h2>MyMovingQuote.com Moving Companies Directory - Press Release</h2>
