Anyone experiencing odd results with the most recent index update? This happened to me back in Jan as well. http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000525.html Anyone here about Yahoo de-coupling keywords? For example car and auto?
My sites went down a great deal in Yahoo. some even disappeared totally. Does any one know about an update or algorithm change?
just wanted to say that they are not new sites -over a year. And if i may: Why is it so hard to get them up in Google compare to MSN and Yahoo?
Thanks for the responses. For our terms car insurance and auto insurance we dropped out of the top ten. We have lived in the top 5 for over a year. Any chance we are being penalized? We are very white hat so I would guess if this is the case it is either an oversite on our part. Anyway, the odd results are pages like Xenga that resolve to a dead page "no longer exisits". Seems odd a page like this gets ranked if on-site optimization is still key to yahoo.
I currently have a page that has been orphaned for a few months (meaning no site links pointing to it) that has come up on the first page of Yahoo for a competitive search term and about 48 million competing pages. At the same time, rankings I had in Yahoo where I was ranked 1-10 are all gone it seems. For the past week, most all of my traffic has been coming from MSN. Weird.
Looks like Yahoo has demoted Google Groups pages. Too bad, while it lasted, it was nice to be able to get top rankings on moderately competitive keywords after spending only 15 minutes or so putting together a group.
My Yahoo results are improving. Historically I have been all about backlinking work, so I have done very well in Google, but not so much in Yahoo. Now my results in yahoo are better, which leads me to believe that indeed they may have changed their algorithm slightly to weigh backlinks a bit more heavily. That being said, my results are not consistent at all in Yahoo - some searches I am suddenly up, and in other ones where I have droves of backlinks I am nowhere to be found.
