I noticed a dramatic shift in traffic data on Saturday for some of our sites on Yahoo. Seems like they have a complete overhaul of their algorithmic search results. Sites are no longer showing up on some keywords. I don't see any obvious logic -- to the new arrangement. It seems that they have done away with "seniority" rank of sites -- they used to give much weigh to "old" domains but no longer. Anyone has any idea of what is going on? What are the new criteria that they are using to rank sites?
My site also experiencing that. Most of targeted keywords has good ranking in google but not in yahoo.
I've been looking around and it looks to me like they have added weight to the "Yahoo directory" linked sites. Many sites in the top listings show Yahoo directory link -- this did not occur so much before. Anyone agrees? I am considering whether to pay $300 per year for listings. Any other changes anyone noticed?
I also noticed some changes like that also. I also noticed that some site loose same pages, or they are reindexing some pages after removing (the yahoo spider are hiting like crazy)
If you search for anything on google, let's say "dvd movies", nearly every site (over 80%) are showing up with "Yahoo directory" category listed next to it. Looks like they are promoting their directory listings and "fixed" search algorithm to give extra points to directory listed sites. What about the 20% of the non-directory listed sites -- what is the reason they are indexed high? Any ideas?
