Has anyone encountered problems getting sites to rank on Yahoo? We have optimized sites that rank on all the major search engines, but for some reason they are tanking on Yahoo.

Usually when a website does well on the other search engines, but poorly on Yahoo it has to do with internal link structure. Yahoo counts internal links towards rankings. If you use good keywords in your internal link anchor text, than you can usually do better on Yahoo. The other search engines don't seem to care about internal links as much as Yahoo.

I'd worry less about Yahoo and more about Google if I were you.

Well good thing she isn't you. It is a horrible idea to ignore Yahoo rankings. Why would anyone purposely ignore 10 - 20% of their potential traffic? daisey pointed out that they already have rankings on the other search engines. Now she also wants to figure out how to get on top of Yahoo too.

lol! that was a good one.

Yahoo is the second biggest search engine and the importance of yahoo traffic cannot be ingnored. Yahoo however has its own algorithm which pays a lot of attention on on-page optimization (more than google), age of domain, and these days on RSS feeds. if you dont have an RSS feed setup for your site or blog, get one generated and then login to my yahoo to add the feed on your profile

Yahoo focuses a lot more on the raw number of links pointing to your page than Google does. Google likes targeted related links and yahoo loves lots and lots and lots of links. So keep link building and you'll see your site rise in the Yahoo SERPs.
