Here is a bizzarre Yahoo ranking mishap that I've spent days trying to figure out. T.r.a.d.i.n.g.A.c.a.d.e.m.y.com, acheives top rankings in Google for thousands of keywords. Does excellent in Google. On T.r.a.d.i.n.g.A.c.a.d.e.m.y.com, click the "Home Study" link on the top navigation. It takes you to the online store, which is on .T.r.a.d.i.n.g.A.c.a.d.e.m.y.net

Here is the issue. If you type in "online trading academy" in Yahoo, you get the T.r.a.d.i.n.g.A.c.a.d.e.m.y.net (Obviously Yahoo thinks its the correct version, but there is no dupe content between .net and .com. The .com has all the traffic and organic rankings. The .com version only appears in the 7th or 8th results in Yahoo.

If you do a site:t.r.a.d.i.n.g.a.c.a.d.e.m.y.com on Yahoo, you get only 1 page indexed, but it shows thousands of external links.

My question is, why doesn't t.r.a.d.i.n.g.a.c.a.d.e.m.y.com rank for anything in Yahoo when it absolutely should? I did notice some EXTERNAL dupe content however. See the following, its homepage text from t.r.a.d.i.n.g.a.c.a.d.e.m.y.com

"You will hear the instructor's voice as you view the presentation of informational charts"

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...entation+of+informational+charts"&btnG=Search

    http://search.yahoo.com/search?p="Y...harts"&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

The strange thing is, these sites are mostly affiliates, but they link back to the canonical source of content via a static text link. Even though the dupe content is in Google, they still rank on millions of their core terms, just type in google "online trading" a very competitive keyword ranks #6 which is great.

    Whats goin on here fellas?

Yahoo pay much more attention to On-site Seo and google pays more attention to natural backlinks

I think that is the main reason

Have you tried submitting a sitemap to Yahoo? It seems that Yahoo is just having a problem indexing/crawling your .com pages. You can also specify a sitemap in your robots.txt file.

I think some search engines have problems when there is more than one tld for a certain domain. They try to determine which is more appropriate for the target region. They are trying to avoid ranking every version of a domain. By ignoring this situation, they might have websites with 5+ different country specific versions all competing for the same keywords.
