Yahoo publishers network available in The Netherlands and other non-USA countries

    Hi all,

I just got an invite to the yahoo-publishing network, and they had a sign-up process available to me (in Dutch) in which I could specify the countries I wanted my ads to show up in, including (but not limited to) the following: Canada (French), UK, USA, Germany, The Netherlands, Taiwan (if I'm not mistaken), Denmark and more.

I could not complete the sign-up process, it was way long and contained programming errors, but the big news is: they are available outside the USA now!

There is no info about this at the Yahoo blog and the signup form still says that you need a SSN from the US.

Verify your information before starting useless threads like this one.

It sent me to this URL: http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/ Looks like yahoo to me (unless they were hacked, obviously). I checked the source just now and it's not a frame or anything. Also: I did not have to enter any personal information, which makes sense as I was already logged into yahoo-mail. It suggested campaigns and key-words related to the campaign I was starting up with, which would be hard to fake, IMO.
True: the terms of service haven't been updated to include non-US yet, but still - that could just be yahoo not being on top of things (which makes sense to me - I feel they are slacking on important issues).

Oh, and Taiwan makes sense: I just read on search-engine blogs that Yahoo-search is big there. So if this is a scam, it is a very well researched one.

    It makes sense to me.

Maybe that form was for advertisers and if it goes all well our international tarffic will be accepted in the near future.

I sometimes get YPN invitation for advertisers. maybe that's the one.

You got an email to become an advertiser for the Yahoo Search Marketing which is completely different from the Yahoo Publisher Network.

International traffic being accepted by YPN has nothign to do with international advertisers on Yahoo. Yahoo does run a search engine that received international traffic, thats why they need the international advertisers.

This thread is useless and should be closed.

I think it serves as a warning to all of us to check what we are enrolling for when we get emails. Think how much the OP might have spent before s/he realised the money was flowing in the wrong direction!!!

Why's that? The OP made an honest mistake and it's been explained. Others may benefit from learning of this experience.

Perhaps it's cost you 1 minute of your life because you read this thread - can you spare a minute?

Yes, that's really the conclusion here. I do apologize for jumping to conclusions.

On the other hand - the thing with Panama, and geo-targeting ads, does sound like they are getting ready at least some of the building blocks they will need to be able to extend their publishers-network to outside the USA.
