Yahoo! PN mailing list compromised?

I just received two spam e-mails to my dedicated YPN e-mail addresses.

These addresses are not used for anything but to log in, and to receive e-mail from YPN. No e-mail has ever gone out on them.

Is it possible that someone, somehow got their hands on YPN's member e-mail list?

I doubt it...these happen time to time with any email address. I have not recieved any spam to my YPN address since I joined well over a year ago.

Probably the result of a dictionary attack.

Possible, even probable, although the e-mail addy is long and complex. Will watch it a bit closer...

Your email travels a mighty path to get from A to B. Who knows how many people could intercept it if they wanted too.

I create Emails for individual Affiliates. At some point down the road spam starts to appear out of nowhere... some I am sure do to the affiliate company sharing the email (selling), some due to other reasons.

But with forged headers the message from Mr Mailer-Daemon saying that the email was rejected because the address doesn't exist gets sent to an innocent bystander. And it's probably being sent by a hijacked PC as well.
