Is it worth it to get your site listed in yahoo's paid directory. How much does that help with getting you site included on yahoo search engine. btw I have a credit card affiliate site.

i would go for a few other directories.

there are a lot of good directories out there, for that kind of cash you can have 5 or 6 other directory listings.

Google recommends submitting your site to DMOZ and Yahoo Directory. Personally I also thought $300 was a bit steep for a link, but don't google and other search engines rank "Trusted, Authority Links" higher than normal backlinks?

I think maybe you may get better thought of search engine wise, but it looks like direct traffic from Yahoo may be a bit lacking.

You will get less traffic from yahoo. But yes definately you will have 1 back link. My suggestion is that if we have free directory link available then why we pay for a link.

of page ranks that high.Private directories above pr 6 are going to cost a lot.yahoo it self is pr 9 the directory is pr 7.i checked prices on pr 7 directories, yahoo came out as a pretty good deal based on price/vs pr.it is interesting to hear if it actually produces traffic.

I personally think the high price is not justifiable. For 300 dollars you can hire a freelancer to to create 250 links for you.

spending $300 to be listed on yahoo directory is not worth, There are lots of SEO who can give you good no. of quality links in that money and those back links will help you getting good ranking in search engine.
good no. of links are better than 1 yahoo back links.

    --Thanks...

If your goal is to get listed in Yahoo Search, read this quick launch index guide.

IMO a Yahoo Directory listing is worth the money if you are promoting a site you believe will be around five years from now. If you have no faith in your site, then don't waste the money.

Yahoo has different directories for different countries. So your one directory listing may turn into 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. It an authoritative link, and there are not many of these links you can buy for a one time fee and not get penalized.

I think it depends what your objective is, and what resources you have. If you have a total budget of $300 to go establish links, then do not get the Yahoo one. But if your goal is to get the maximum possible incoming links and you have a large budget of $5k or more, the Yahoo directly link is a must.

    I agree.

In fact you don't even need $300...most freelancers do it for far less.

Is it nofollow link? If it's not I would not mind paying over $500 to get listed...

Its not guaranteed listing. That is, you pay $299 to yahoo, yahoo guarantee to review your site within 7 days.

But there is guarantee for your site to be listed. May be they accept your site, may be not. If not, then you lose your $299

Just want to clarify on this. I am just following the postings since I am not yet very familiar with all this set up. So this means that there is no guarantee that your site is listed upon payment of $299? Its quite unfair. Well, maybe the best thing to do is asses quite well whether the site can qualify before applying and paying the $299.

You'll pay $299 for listing that reputedly doesn't help with PR and traffic. Not worth it!

I think you better invest that $300 in link building activities and getting good backlinks. Even if you are ready to pay, the inclusion is not definite and no refunds will be made. From the traffic point of view too, it is dismal.
