Just started with this webmastering bussines and I fast realized (reading some articles) that getting high positions in google want be so easy so I decided to start some SEO for yahoo and msn. Okay msn seems fairly easy but surffing through yahoo SERPs I couldn't quite get the idea what is in common to all the sites that rank well.
Most of the people say that yahoo is more on page SEO based like H1 H2 headings meta KW density, so I did all that and also posted a sitemap of my site. Also just beginnenig my link building campaign.
Is there anything else that can help.
What are your expiriences, what helped you get high in yahoo ( surfing through forum i noticed that many of you say that you have good positions in yahoo).

I will apriciate every suggestion and accurate reply.

Good SEO on page factors and plenty of links with your keywords as the anchor text.

it's easier to give you some ideas if you put your webpage url in your question. Then maybe we can see if something is totally wrong.

I agree with hulo. Google is king and will give you the most return for your efforts. Focus on Google and don't risk your Google rankings to show better in Yahoo or MSN.

Use a higher keyword density for Yahoo than for Google. Some say 6% for Yahoo, and 3% for Google. But who really knows?

Too many keywords will KILL your yahoo lisings, use them, but not more than would be natural.

It's time to repeat the old saying... use, but not abuse!
The 90's, when that worked, are long gone...

There is an additional point you are missing. You should also consider competition, for instance you will get faster results with keywords which are not very popular but if you plan to rank well for a very popular keyword then it will take much more time.
Althought ranking on the st page for a non popular keyword won't bring you much traffic ;)

Your right. I have had no problem ranking for obscure search terms. But even #1 doesn't give me any traffic when nobody searches for that.

Trying to figure out Yahoo, I'm researching top5 websites who hardly have any links pointing to it.

From what I've seen sofar the keyword density is extremely high, like 10%+ and have many links to their own pages with the anchortext for which the site wants to rank for.

Am not yet sure if this is what Yahoo likes, but am testing this at the moment.
