Heh , I don't know about you guys , but I remember yahoo mail being very popular a few years ago. In 2000 when I got my first yahoo user id (which I still use with yahoo messenger btw) there was a lot of fuss about yahoo. (If I remember well google didn't even have email back then).

Google's email users have increased due to their fast email interface but more than that , it increased because they own youtube , because they have adsense and adwords, etc.

About yahoo advertising on adsense, well... it's funny , very funny but also highly effective.

Considering Hot mail is now recommending users to GMail, maybe yahoo is trying to compete with gmail since their the only major one left.

In case you didn't know, Bing advertises on Google all the time.

And here's a real shocker, Google advertises it's products using the Yahoo advertising network as well.

I dont see how thats a sign of desperation, why not advertise on the largest ad network in the world?

This is nothing new. Business is Business after all. They all do market research and find out how to get customers. Advertising on Googleads seems to be one way they win.
