I just started another post about ranking in Yahoo with just the domain and basic links, here. I have another observation, regarding Blogger blogs and Yahoo. It seems to me that Yahoo simply will not rank Blogger blogs as easily as it does regular websites and other blog services. Anyone else see this? While testing a blogger blog for a low competition keyword I saw the following results: - Google ranked me #1-5 within one week - MSN ranked me #1-5 within a month (about 2 weeks after Google) - Yahoo, nothing... it's been over 6 weeks. Same site, low competition, unique content. The new site got only 2 or 3 medium PR backlinks (sitewide) from my other UNRELATED sites. After about a week or so, directory submissions (this helped me skyrocket to #1 in MSN)... after my #1 in Google and MSN, a few more paid links on related sites. In general, Google and MSN results stayed stable even without updating my site or further optimization... Yahoo still won't rank me. Am I the only one seeing this or can anyone else confirm that Yahoo dislikes Blogger?
I have many Blogger blogs, and quite a few rank very well in Y! for some very competitive keywords/keyphrases. Should be noted, however, that I don't host any for free on blogspot, i.e. they are all hosted on my own domains. Makes a difference? Maybe. Furthermore, my Blogger blogs that rank well in Y! have been promoted heavily.
Well I also have a few good rankings for blogs that are hosted on my own domains... that's not really what I was talking about. I was refering to the free blog service that are Google branded, the blogspot.com blogs. I've seen them rank well in some cases but they tend to be more established and have quite a bit of work put into them. On the other hand, Google and MSN seem to rank NEW blogspot.com blogs easily and quickly. Anyone else see this?
From what I can tell, they don't rank well in Y!, especially for competitive keywords/keyphrases. And this is a good tactic on the part of Y! in the war against spam. Just as most spammers typically don't don't register a domain name for more than a year, they also tend to use free blogspot blogs to create "splogs." Bottom line: if a site owner is serious about his/her content, then why wouldn't he/she invest a few dollars to buy their own domain name? MSN is really bad for blogspot splogs. MSN often ranks 110% blogspot splogs in the top 5 for competitive keyphrases. It's really quite embarrassing, IMO, and I'm surprised they're dragging their feet about correcting this problem.
I totally agree with you about the "splog" thing... But I have noticed that Google has joined MSN with quickly/highly ranking blogspot.com blogs.
Yep, and this is part of the reason why G Search is on the way out, and Y! Search is becoming more popular, IMO. It seems like every week I'm finding more large, very well-established websites opting to use Y! for web searches.
lol only my backlinks for "tovx" show up in Yahoo no sites show up liek in google "tovx" every thing lol... maby they take a while to update or something?
