Yahoo Not Listing Any Subdomain pages?

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by cmeinck, Oct 17, 2005.

In May of this year, I added an online store as a subdomain. Google and MSN have indexed the subdomain and showing results. I haven't received any SERP's from Yahoo for the subdomain. Any suggestions on how to get the subdomain in Yahoo?

    Thanks.

Have you tried a "site:subdomain.domain.com" search in Yahoo ? Have they indexed your subdomain ?

I have several subdomains indexed by them and I didn't do anything special to get them crawled, but I don't know where, or whether, they rank in Yahoo because I don't check. They send me such an insignificant percentage of traffic to all my sites that I never bother tracking how they rank.

Just checked and a whopping 4190 are in Yahoo. Weird because I get no rankings from Yahoo on these pages. Yahoo is small percentage of my traffic, but with all the Google dance crap, I figured I'd better see what I can do to increase any Yahoo/MSN rankings.

Post the url and maybe someone can take a look.

FYI - if the pages are heavy with javascript, asp or the likes, this could be an issue - Y! doesn't play nice with these.

I know what you mean, but I guess it depends where you are in the world. Recent studies show that about 70% of UK searches are done on Google, and only 7% on MSN and less on Yahoo.
Which means that if Google keeps the results that I'm seeing at the moment, I'm completely boned :(
No point worrying yet though, let the dust settle first

Yes, Yahoo definitely indexes sub's - many of mine get better ranking than my main site and bring in a good chunk of traffic, but again, if they're heavy with scripts, they (Yahoo) tends to "overlook" them as they've not perfected getting around them as good as Google.
