Yahoo may consider Google alliance, source says

I just don't see why Yahoo would want to ally with Google. Maybe they're trying to get MS to up their bid by talking "alliance" with the enemy.

I think an alliance with Google would really suck for many of us here. I don't think a monopoly is a good thing for the consumer.

Yeah, i felt the same way. Microsoft's stock is down now and if they change their mind on the bid, there would be no more exit for Yahoo.

What monopoly? Do you even know what a monopoly is? Clearly not. Anyone is allowed to compete with google. Nothing is stopping you. Monopolies occur when the government tells you you are legally not allowed to compete with someone / something. Example. The U.S. Postal service is a monopoly on first class mail (Stamps). No other carrier is legally allowed to carry mail. (Not packages. Mail)

Clearly not? I think you should read up on it.

The term monopoly (from Greek mono(μονό), alone or single + polο (πωλώ), to sell) can bear two main definitions:

    1. In Economics, monopoly (also "Pure monopoly") is a persistent situation where there is only one provider of a product or service in a particular market. Monopolies are characterized by a lack of economic competition for the good or service that they provide and a lack of viable substitute goods.

    2. In political discourse, the term monopoly is frequently invoked as a blanket generalization in criticism of firms with large market share or lack of what's perceived as "fair" competition.

    Back to school for you!
