As far as internet searches were concerned, I was aware that Yahoo, as a search engine, was not in the same league anymore as the other bigger players such as Google, however I was not aware that it is beginning to rely more and more on Microsoft's search technology to function. As far healthy competition is concerned, not sure this is a good thing. Has Yahoo thrown the towel in as far as being a major competitior in the search engine stakes? Err.....what doesn't? The post itself...or that Yahoo is using Microsoft technology to power it's internet searching?
You should pay more attention to this. You can't be successful online if you don't know what is going on.
Well thanks for the response.....I guess that's why I'm on forums such as this one, so I can find out more about what is going on!
For years and years, Yahoo outsourced it search results to Google. Yahoo search was an identical mirror of Google search. Then they bought inktomi and generated their own SERPs. Now they have made a deal with MS. Soon, (a few months away I guess), Yahoo will outsource it's search to bing.com, and bing SERPs will reach 30% of the search market. Bing will be important to marketers and bing tools will pop up everywhere. Bompa
Yahoo seems to take a long time to include new sites in its index nowadays. More time than google and definitely more time than bing. Bing is the quickest as they are growth oriented, followed by google, in my experience.
From what people are saying here it sounds like Yahoo is on auto pilot. Their staff are probably not that motivated since Bing results will soon replace the Yahoo results. They must be spending their time updating their resumes.
