    IMO yahoo is easier

Search for "hacking emails" . my site is ranking on 1st position in yahoo while its nowhere to be seen in google.

Yahoo is really tough to figure out... even worse though, they now seem to be spamming their search results with ads...

do you have proof of spamming search results with ads?

Yahoo is easy if you have a new product. If your are trying to get into a search query that they have PPC of $1.00+ good luck. You have about 4 years wait on that.

I wish people understood that more on this forum.

Yahoo is as easy as a keyword rich domain and just having keywords all over the page.

Problem is not to rank on yahoo... Problem is to rank on Yahoo and Google at the same time. Well i'm not going to write a lot about the difference between those 2 search engine's algorithm but what i found is that google love BIG SITES and Yahoo love "not that big" Sites.

Make a search for "web design vietnam" on both google and yahoo. You will see my site on yahoo and not on google, why? Might be 2 reasons. the first reason is what i explained above. The other one is that the site is too young and it might be in the sandbox (well hell it should be over by now :().

Yahoo is a comfirmed search engine that lists site with high valuable content, their algo is kinda different from the one of google, for instance, a yahoo directory listing will (not that much) help you on yahoo SERPS, while a listing on google directory helps your ranking on google. Many stuffs like that,

I don't think I'm even in the Yahoo directory, or Dmoz, and I've submitted to both. If I get in, I think I'll know by my traffic.

I have never used Yahoo directory, have a competitve keyword, my site was up for 2/3 months and I now rank number 2 on Yahoo. It can be done, just have LOTS of content and good SEO.

    Example of paid inclusion:

    www.searchadnetwork.com/logclick1.cfm?string=

Shows up in the top three for about 50 of the KWs I watch. I first saw this in May. That URL has zero backlinks.
When you include the complete string, there are still zero backlinks.
The index page has 451 backlinks.

It's not possible to obtain natural top three SERPS for these KWs with zero backlinks. Smells like paid inclusion to me.

About 5 years ago I was #1 ranking on yahoo with a geocities site. So everyone that typed in Mystery Shopping or mystery shoppers I would come up spots 1-3 (it jumped around)
I had several geocities sites that ranked well but then I got a real site and cant place the top 10 pages....hahahaha

I'm in both, yahoo takes far longer to update their links and therefore it takes much longer to get indexed in Y!

Google brings nearly 3 times as much traffic as MSN or Y! - Even with rankings in the top 5 rather that #1

I think its easier for me to rank high on yahoo than google..

search "sexy asians" you will see my site on the first page, sometimes its 2nd but never 1st (my site is not about porn)

I've found Yahoo was MUCH slower at indexing new pages but my ranking is great for a local/city keyword phrase. Can't tell about the G because it looks like I'm sandboxed with the same phrase.
