Yahoo is easy to rank well in, it just takes longer since they are usually slow at indexing. That and they like more links

I find Yahoo! very easy to get ranked in. Google, on the other hand...>_>

How come it is so easy for everyone! My site's been up for 7 months I think I should be seeing some results.

Yes, google is the most important search engine to rank in, however, it is good to rank well in all of them. If google decides to drop your site one day during a whacky update, you will be happy to still have msn and yahoo. :D You really don't want all your apples in one basket. And, I agree with the other poster that referrals from yahoo and msn convert better.

Personally, my rankings are best in yahoo and msn, but google is coming along nicely as I add more and more backlinks.

I have kinda same feelings like you but once I was ranking well in yahoo I noticed I loosed rank in google, while I was ranked good in yahoo I didn't get the good traffic so I preferred to be optimized for google getting me good traffic.
Due to competiting nature of these two search engines, I wonder if they have some conflicting policies.

I now know that Yahoo and Msn send about the same amount of traffic, even though Yahoo is the bigger website overall. I have a site that came up on page 1 for the exact same keyword in the same position. Virtually no difference in referalls between the 2 engines.

I have a site that ranks first page on Yahoo for a very competitive keyword (300.000+ searches each month)
But that site is online since 2001

So maybe Yahoo awards older sites more than MSN or Google does

This the same for me and my small ring of sites too. I would tend to lean more highly converting traffic than the "G" index.

How do you people track conversions between Yahoo and Google? I have Analytics and I can't.

No, in my view, Google is the most difficult to rank in, especially for the targetted keywords. The only thing is, google seems to give you traffic for lots vague, non-intended keywords, which makes Google appear easy to rank in than Yahoo.

Correct Yahoo is very difficult to rank in for competitive sites.

I had one site finally get indexed after 3 years in Yahoo. I have another that is also competitive in another industry and only has 300 of 10000 pages indexed by yahoo.

In Google it is difficult but it wasn't before the sandbox was created 2.5 years ago now. At least with the sandbox in Google you can calcultate when your site will be released with the difficult keywords.

I had one site come out of the sandbox for Google 12 months in and the positioning was exactly where I thought it would be for a PR 6 site. Position 1 was a PR 7, position 2 was a pr 7 and my site was a PR 6.

My site has been alive for 7 months, do you think it is out of the sandbox yet? Or does it really take a whole year?

Who knows. If it is something very popular like Viagra then you will have to wait over a year. Words like new vehicles or products the sandbox will not be a factor.
