Dying, but in the early stages. They have a tumor that's not inoperable but the procedure is expensive! There are only a few doctors that can perform the operation and all but one is bold enough to try. Even with this knowledge, they still push Dr. Microsoft away. Go Figure!
Spot on. The reason I don't use Yahoo is because it's cluttered with so much portal crap it's just easier to click Google. I also trust Googles results much more and feel like I might be missing out on something if I use Yahoo.
Yea Yahoo!'s Alexa rank is only.. 1. They'll probably be out of business before the year is out. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/yahoo.com?q= I love Yahoo!, though their search has lagged behind for a long time.. most of Google's good ideas have been taken from them (maps, mail, groups, news, and so on). I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon.. Google needs to get their ideas from somewhere.
I do not think Yahoo is dying. it is still the most popular site on the web, even thought it's search engine is not googles equal. Also, they were super popular even when their search engine was much worse than it is now, as it has been greatly improved. And their email service does not have all the privacy implications of gmail.
Yahoo is NOT going anywhere. If MSN still has life, then Yahoo will be around for a long time. At the least they're trying stuff that's new once in a while. MSN is just a paperweight of a website.
of course they are dying because google is the most used search engine in the world and they control the search engine business. only microsoft can help them
I don't think people go to google only because it is the best seach engine. Most surfers like te freebies Google offers. Tube sites youtube.com add to the popularity as well.
I have to agree that Yahoo is dying. It based its business model on banner ads - and stuck with it unfortunately. Although their social media holdings can help fetch them a decent sell-out price :>
In regards to getting on top of the search game, quite simply they're going to have to make some drastic and revolutionary changes to get people's attention and get better results with their search engine. In the short-term, they can hold on to lesser educated users by providing better content alongside their search, something to make people stick around despite the low quality of search engine results.
