I have seen multiple articles online regarding Yahoo! potentially closing MyBlogLog. This is terribly unfortunate, as I draw a lot of visitors and traffic from there all the time! I really hope Yahoo! doesn't close this app, but only time will tell. Here's a few articles: http://paidcontent.org/article/419-yahoo-acknowledges-it-might-shut-down-mybloglog/ http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/2009/12/23/yahoo-reportedly-shutting-down-mybloglog-very-soon
MyBlogBlog has been declining for a long time now - it really hit its peak 3 years ago and since has been declining
I do agree that it's declining, but it's still a shock to hear Yahoo! plans on closing it down. There are still tons and tons of popular blogs and communities on there, it's got a high PR and Alexa rank and traffic must be pretty decent there, I'm surprised Y! doesn't see any possible way to earn money with the site anymore.
Maybe they should take some money they received from Microsoft and work on MyBlogLog instead of just closing it.
The whole thing started as a rumor as Readwriteweb published an article about it, and then the YDN developer lead responded that shutting down is just one of the options on the table and the decision will be taken later. Probably they might not shut it down after all.
Yahoo mail is the place where they still have goood market share so that will be the last option i guess
I heard about that too. I wonder why yahoo is closing some of their sites down? What I can think of is they might be doing it to save some money. But it seems they would try and make money off of it. I don't see any ads on the home page or anywhere. Unless I'm missing them. If they would put some ads on that site I think they could make some money and I really think they should keep it open.
I Prefer Mybloglog over Blogcatolog and it's a Shame that they are Closing Down come to Think of it the MyBloglog Blog is Never Updated so it shows how interested Yahoo is in mybloglog
They might have closed down geocities over the resources it consumes versus the earnings (ya don't get to much via nasty pop-ups). But mybloglog has the potential to get them even more earnings, if they use it right. They just have to add a pay per click advertising feature there. With all the visitors they'd got the ability to gain lots of money. By the way, what are the alternatives from mybloglog, blogCatalog for listing blogs - Any other suggestions?
I have been looking into this site http://bloggers.com/ the membership is not very high but it has a clean interface and you see screenshots of the blogs before you visit.
Thanks, I first thought you were refering to blogger.com blogspots entry site. But now I see that it's a different site. I will try this out. It's a PR4 site, but certainly it's got some potential.
