How many actually pay the $299.00 fee for Yahoo Inclusion? Are there any benefits if your site is already included in their search engine?
yes, there will be some benefits if you get in the yahoo directory.but don't expect of that the yahoo directory will do "the magic" boost.is just a good directory ,and ofcourse it will help .but, they ask for too much money,in my opinion
Personally I've had listings since the late 90's. Courtesy inclusions. Yahoo doesn't go back and remove them. Good for SEO but declining. Actual traffic even if in a good Category is pretty low. Google still seems to like them. But in my opinion unless you are a bricks and mortar business I think you might not get your return. And with Yahoo Bing still on... it is probably worth investing your money elsewhere for now.
I think the price is a little steep, which could probably be used for something else. If you don't have time to do your own seo, backlinking, etc. you could maybe use it to pay someone reputable. If you get your link in yahoo directory that has decent pagerank you might get a little link juice from it, but at $299 to me it's not worth it for 1 little link. Some people swear by it, and seem to believe it's worth it. I am just not willing to shell out that kind of change for 1 link in yahoo directory.
I wouldn't pay for it, at least not that amount of money. Someone on DP, on other thread regarding the submission for paid inclusion said that in 2010, in Junuary, that tax will be at a much lower rate, probably free of charge. Wait and see...
Yahoo directory is very good directory but it's very expensive if you hair any SEO person they can do much more on $299 compare then one single link form yahoo
Paying for advertising is a absolutely worthwhile, however the cost should be justified by the amount of traffic generated or the audience targeted. I don't feel Yahoo can justify the cost. Yahoo has several of my pages indexed in their directory that we did not pay for inclusion. I would be interested in hearing about directories that forum users have found fruitful (no self-serving suggestions please)
Thought you all might be interested in hearing how Yahoo! Directory justifies their $299 inclusion fee. Recently, SiteProNews published an article entitled Link Building Best Practices - A Guide to Effective Link Building Methods The author suggests that, "Google considers a Yahoo Directory link as quality backlink[...]worth submitting to Yahoo Directory." In my opinion, while my sites are included in Yahoo Search free inclusion I have never seen a link from Yahoo detected by Google. The program appears to be outdated from a time when Yahoo was the leading search engine. I have decided to test the paid inclusion as the majority of my traffic certainly comes from Google and Bing is steadily increasing it will be interesting to see what kind of traffic Yahoo! "Human Edited" Directory can bring. Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Search. I understand that you would like to know more information about the difference between having your site listed for free in Yahoo! Search, and paying to have your site listed in the Yahoo! Directory. I'd be happy to assist you with this today. The Yahoo! Directory and Yahoo! Search work together to bring you the information and resources you are looking for. * Yahoo! Search returns a list of webpages containing the words you entered. These results are a combination of relevant webpages and websites provided by Yahoo! Search and the Yahoo! Directory. * The Yahoo! Directory is a human-created and maintained collection of websites organized into categories and subcategories. Yahoo! editors review these sites for potential inclusion in the Directory, and to evaluate the best place to list them. For example, you can see a full listing of general sites related to dogs by visiting Yahoo!'s Dogs category. Sites about more specific dog-related subjects are listed under appropriate subcategories. The Yahoo! Directory is helpful when: * You're not sure how to describe what you want, or you're searching for words with multiple meanings. Behind the scenes, our editors build in synonyms, cross-references, and relationships between subjects. For example, when you're ready for your close up, you might search for "casting" to get an audition. Your results include sites from the related Directory category: Talent and Crew > Talent Agencies You can browse this list of sites and subcategories, or search for "casting" services just within Talent Agencies, rather than on the entire Web. This guarantees your results won't refer to another kind of casting, such as plaster or die casting. * You want a better understanding of the subject you're searching for. For example, search the Directory for "bugs" and you'll see: Arthropods > Insects In this category, you'll find listings for individual creatures from antlions to wasps, along with such topics as entomophagy (insects as food) and pest management. Web Results for "bugs" alone gives you a much narrower view. You can further your knowledge of almost any subject using our rich categories with extensive links to related information. The hand-built Yahoo! Directory paired with the technology of Yahoo! Search offers a useful, unified source of online information. I hope this information helps resolve this issue. If you have additional questions regarding this matter, please reply to this message and I will gladly assist you. Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Search. Regards, Apollo Yahoo! Conclusion...Yahoo human edited directory did not provide return on investment. Bing is steadily gaining on Google referrals.
Yahoo's system automatically indexes sites for inclusion and paying for human edited inclusion serves no benefit at all in my experience. Perhaps 10 years ago when they still had a good share of the search traffic it was worth it...
