That is a pretty bold and empty comment. There are so many reason why that persons site could be posting poorly in the new Yahoo! update. I post very well in Yahoo! (The best of the big three) and I am a co-op subscriber... SO, with that said, me and everyone else who still is doing well in Yahoo! and are apart of the DP Coop are saying the opposite of what that guy said...

I agree with newcomputer, blaming your lack of seo knowledge on the coop is just stupid.

Absolutely, I have the co-op on all my sites and Yahoo still provides more traffic than MSN (and Google for newer sites, but that's due to a number of factors). Either way, I doubt Yahoo has a specific grudge against the co-op, since from a spider's perspective, the links appear just as that, links. Not only that, they're one-way links too so there's no evidence of favouritism via reciprocal linking. If anything, the co-op is even better than interlinking your own sites since they're all one-way links (in most cases) - you can avoid the host filter (speaking of which - does anyone have any concrete evidence of this? I'm quite interested in finding out).

I'm still keeping an eye on that thread though.

I create sites and market using ONLY my coop weight, targeting only competitive terms.

    search.yahoo.com/search?p=ebay+uk&sm=Yahoo%21+Search&fr=FP-tab-web-t&toggle=1&cop=&ei=UTF-8[/url]

I'm the highest site that isn't eBay. That ranking took two weeks to achieve and it's been there for the past two weeks without any movement.

Don't tell me the COOP is hated by Yahoo or any search engine for that matter. That is simply not the case and I'll provide any statistics to back that up.

We've got to remember that each and every site is a unique situation, just because a site using the coop drops in Yahoo! does not mean you can correlate that to *any* other site. There are simply too many other variables.

Stats for one of my sites.

June with coop (lots of weight directed to this site)

    - Yahoo 16299
    - Google 1798
    - MSN 1134
    - AltaVista 511

    Stats for May:

    - Yahoo 4100
    - MSN 1400
    - Google 1225

    Stats from April

    - Yahoo 3036
    - Google 2093
    - MSN 1100

Whatever happened in June, Yahoo has sent 4x the normal traffic it usually does.

What about msn? Doing good in that? Not knocking the coop, just curious. MSN has dropped a lot of my pages and doesn't show nearly the backlinks that yahoo does now.

I think one of the reasons for coop sites dropping a bit inthe ranks might be becasue of after the yahoo update a lot of people probably removed their sites in fear.

It's too much speculation. Like exam said, there are many other factors playing their roles. One problem with many webmasters is that they stop doing anything else and rely on the coop to do it all. If you have a solid strategy, that strategy should carry your rankings.

I have a couple of sites in the COOP that rank very well in Yahoo but not in MSN, I have a couple of COOP sites that rank very well in MSN but not in Yahoo and one that is picking up in Google but not the others.
I can see no pattern forming for any of them.

I do know that my weight dropped on one site and the traffic from Yahoo also dropped two days later but after a few days started to edge back up again although the weight stayed down.

 It's a mystery to me

    Completely agree with you.

I just think its a case of some trying to find something to blame in these times of uncertainty with Yahoo.

I'm like a lot of others here. Some of my Coop sites are doing great in Yahoo, others are nowhere to be found. On a guess, I'd say Coop has little to do with sites being dropped from Yahoo.

Of course, I'm not relying entirely on the Coop for my sites' rankings either. You're best off putting some work in for other links.
