maybe, but maybe also they have little tiny mice that go to all web sites and check it that way. of course they do! how else are they going to rank sites?
Every software before its development has an algorithm. You cannot develop a software without algorithm......
NO ! yahoo does not use any "algo" . He, She, It deploys a plethora of ads and still chalanges the big ? G
Yes, Yahoo has an algo. Yahoo purchased the inktomi algorithmic based crawler for $235 million on December 23, 2003.
Case in point. My first exposure to computers was a course I took in 1965 at the Univ. of Pittsburg. It was in computer programming, and the language we studied was called M.A.D., the abbreviation for "Michigan Algorithm Decoder". Algorithms have been part and parcel of the computer world for decades, and it is unthinkable to ponder a search engine like Yahoo operating without a sophisticated algorithm.
Yahoo was using Googe until it bought the inktomi algo. The funny thing is that MSN had a contract with inktomi and they shared the crawler for a while.
I don't think Yahoo has any algo in place. The way I see how Yahoo ranks websites, it reminds my Altavista back in 1995! It has no clue how to do it. Google is still the best search engine and it produces the best traffic.
the yahoo algo works like this:- 10 select first site from list 20 if month has 'r' in it go to 10 30 print site
They don't have an algorithm, their spiders randomly assign websites a number from 1 to 100 (may be decimal such as 1.00234). This number is unique for each site, going up to a billion decimal places. This number determines your website's rank. To improve your rank: > Use semantic code that is easier to crawl > Feed the spider cookies > Allow it to drink link juice > Put traps in your HTML to capture the spider, then extort ranking from yahoo for it's safe return Or just read the capital letters from my list
The ranking Algo for Yahoo is similar to Googles . Based alot around the Pakerank system, Sadly no real alternative to Pakerank based algos
