I think that answer questions from other people must have a solid foundation, not just to get backlinks.
The backlinks from the Yahoo answers give great results not only for the yahoo ranking but also for the google ranking as well. One of best free ideas for this can be starting a group on yahoo groups. This way you can have all the information related to your website or product and use that creatively as well.

If your in the right groups, Yahoo Groups is better for traffic . If your product/service is relevant to the group AND you are an active (or at least semi-active) in the group as a contributor, you can get some decent traffic to your site.
