Yahoo forces it's logo on me! It changed my favicon.ico

    Hi,

I'm totally outraged today. I browse through my site and on many pages I suddenly see the yahoo icon as a favicon. Checking it out, it makes sense. I have Yahoo as a host (generally gladly, I may add) - so they just changed the favicon file to their own... Even when I change it back through FTP, it doesn't change. On some pages I have an actual favicon link in the HTML, so you can see what it ought to look like just going to my homepage:
    http://www.katinkahesselink.net/

But if you go to almost any other page, for instance my pages on the internet (quite elementary, but useful for newby's) you see the yahoo favicon: http://www.katinkahesselink.net/internet/

I reported this to their staff, so I hope they will change this back pronto. It may finally be the straw that makes me change hosts.

yeah i see what your saying. The homepage shows the correct favicon whereas the other pages show yahoo ico.

By doing this they will be surely losing their customers.

I do generally have good experience with their policies, so I'll give them a month or so. Usually it goes something like this: I report something > they say they can't help > a month or so later it IS fixed.

It is annoying though. How am I going to find a host that has good stats, enough server room, reliable host in general (great uptime) and is affordable? I do get a decent amount of visitors, and I want to keep that up. As if I wasn't busy enough as it is...

It was probably just something to do with your browser.

Just checked both your pages as well, and can see your favicon on both of them.

Yes, they did fix it. I don't think it's a browser problem - I see the change back now in firefox (which I used all along) as well.

This is generally my experience with Yahoo - they may make mistakes like this for a bit, but they usually do fix it.
