Checking my competition backlinks, i found many links coming from blog spam.I looked at these blogs source ( the cache source also) and saw rel="nofollow" but still, yahoo took in consideration those links. What are your own conclusions regarding Yahoo and rel="nofollow" ?
Contrary to popular belief rel="nofollow" does not mean don't follow the link. What it does mean is that the website is unable or does not want to vouch for the link. Yahoo will follow links with rel="nofollow" and even index the page it finds if it has not been indexed it already. Also it will show the link as you have discovered. Presumably what it will not do is give the link any value as far as its SERPs algorithm is concerned. Although there is no way of knowing for sure. - Michael
Michael, that makes sense and i think is the only explanation : yahoo follows the links, indexes them but gives them 0 value.
Yes, they are the links that may mean zero value even if the web page containing them be cached by all the search engines.
Yes Yahoo Follows Those Links It has Even Started to Prevent Google , Msn From crawling its own Directories because they dont follow links with nofollow
i have few links to my site those are being followed by Google as well. But they are of high quality. No spam
Yahoo follows them but it does not count those links when it comes to SERPS positioning. A good tool to use it the SEO for Firefox Plugin.. it shows you links that have the rel=nofollow tag on them.
Has Yahoo publically stated anything about using or not using nofollow? I don't think it's safe to assume.
