Yahoo finds unlinked domain

There is this domain I registered half a year ago. I am currently working on the site for it and was curious to see if some other stuff uses the brandname. It didn't show anything on Google and MSN. Yahoo showed the domain and the placeholder page, much to my surprise. The domain has absolutely 0 links.

Makes me wonder if Yahoo uses information about registered domains to seed its engine.

Yes... I noticed this a few months back. A few of us think Yahoo gets a list of newly regisitered domains and then puts the sites in the index. I had a site that ranked on the 2nd page in yahoo 6 months back for a real estate KW with 0 backlinks.

I agree. Yahoo allways indexes domains that I've reg. with godaddy. No backlinks, submissions, nothing.

I had this happen as well, although I was under the impression that Yahoo spidered the website when the Yahoo toolbar is installed while accessing the website...

It could be that yahoo found a stats or referer page that had the domain listed. I have also found lists of recently registered domain names on the web that would provide the in link.

I guess now that you can register domains through Yahoo, it makes it just that much easier for them to index sites.

Are you sure that this domains was not registered before?

I have a site that i am not promoting with no backlinks with a top 10 placement in yahoo for a number of search terms.

So much easier to get to the top of yahoo than google
