Yahoo Edges away from Google

"Yahoo sites edged out Google properties in September, but not by a
wide margin. 480 million visitors hit Yahoo's various properties in
the midst of that company's marketing blitz. Google picked up 467
million visitors to its sites for the month."

    BUT

"ComScore's other big gainer, YouTube, is a network unto itself, and
brought in 81 million unique visitors. If that gets added in to
Google's site numbers, Google would easily best Microsoft's monthly
traffic, not to mention everyone else's."

    Just incase your bothered!

I'm not worried. The only thing I do online that's illegal is download stuff. Until Google gets weird about people who download stuff, I'm all for them doing whatever they want with my info. Go Google! =P

Quoting visitors is a good stat but what I want to know is who makes more money? I imagine Yahoo does better on paid advertisements but google does well with adsense. This would be an interesting figure to learn.

I don't care about Google getting bigger either. I don't understand why people (of my generation, at least) are scared of Google becoming huge. Nobody cared about Yahoo! when it was the popular thing.

I don't know whether to worry about Google tracking what people download, though. I mean they do provide the Code Search which can give access to copyrighted code...

I like google....I liked the fact that they stood up to the government when they requested search information...we all know how dangerous that can be "remember AOL's blunder"

Well, if one company becomes a monopoly on something...it's never good for us...

I like Google. Yeah its a for profit company, but they aren't cutthroat like the rest of corporate America.

Well, I can't say everything Google does is right but some technologies and ideas they have introdiced, like Sandbox has helped honest professional older companies and they are not affraid of overnight newcomers crashing their rankings like in other search engines.

They've also severely damaged some honest new companies trying to make an honest living online (having been subject to this myself).

I think google is getting a little to big, its never good when one company pulls that far ahead of the competition.

Which is why we should all keep Yahoo and MSN in business...I'm hoping YPN goes global soon.
Sometimes Yahoo gives me a better search result than Google...Yahoo is still good, and I love their email.

Competition from yahoo and msn will always prevent google from taking 99% (if they don't already take a large %) from adsense and other services.

Google is great, they have many free services. It's always great to leech off of big corps' free services, like everyone leeched DP's free tools, but they need to make money too.

Google won't own the entire internet. There are plenty of large players (and maybe even very small start ups) that could even surpass Google in the future, you never know. Yahoo used to be the biggest.. then this little fish called Google came along with newer, more inovative stuff.

Who's to say it won't happen again?
